131 fake treatment centres sealed

LAHORE: In pursuance of the order of the Supreme Court, the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) shut down another 131 businesses of quacks on Friday.

The PHC teams visited 254 treatment centres and closed down 131 quacks’ businesses in different cities including Chiniot, Multan, Attock, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Vehari, Layyah, Rahim Yar Khan, Narowal, Kasur, Khushab, Lahore, Bahawalnagar and Lodhran.

The PHC teams were accompanied by officials of the district administration and police.

It is pertinent to mention here that during the last four days, the PHC teams had visited 1,117 centres and sealed 410 businesses.

Notice: SP Cantt Bilal Zafar Friday issued show cause notice to four out of 37 cops over poor performance during four-day monitoring system.

Circle officers and SHOs had sent special reports of 37 cops to the SP out of which four with very poor performance were issued show cause notice. The other cops arrested four proclaim offenders, 68 CAs and 43 history-sheeters.

OPC: In order to devise a mechanism for early redress of the Pakistani expatriates’ complaints pertaining to the federal government agencies, a delegation of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Islamabad, headed by Federal Secretary Dr Hashim Popalzai, visited the office of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC), Punjab.

OPC Vice-Chairperson Senator Shaheen Khalid Butt and Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti told the delegation about the performance of the commission. They said the OPC had emerged as an effective platform to facilitate the expatriates.

On the instructions of the chief minister, OPC is working on the fast track basis and so far 60 percent of the complaints of overseas Pakistanis have been redressed, they said. Federal Secretary Dr Hashim Popalzai said that the enhanced cooperation between the OPC and Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis would yield positive results regarding redress of the grievances of overseas Pakistanis.
