Speakers at a seminar stressed that without making Pakistan an Islamic welfare state in a true sense, terrorism and lawlessness could never be overcome and the country would continue to suffer from other evils like poverty, corruption, unemployment, nepotism etc.
They also paid glowing tributes to the founder of Jamia Naeemia Lahore, Mufti Muhammad Hussain Naeemi and Dr Sarfraz Naeemi Shaheed while addressing a Mufti Azam seminar at Jamia Naeemia on Saturday, held in connection with the annual celebrations of the institution. Punjab Law Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman was the chief guest on the occasion who substituted for Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif who could not come due to some pressing engagements.
Other noted speakers included provincial minister for Auqaf Mian Ata Maneka, Pervaiz Malik MNA, Pir Munawwar Hussain Jamaati, Dr Abul Kbair Muhammad Zubiar, Allama Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Punjab University VC Dr Mujahid Kamran, Pir Mehfooz Mashadi MPA, Jusitce retd Nazeer Ghazi, Sultan Ahmad Ali, Sardar Muhammad Khan Leghari, Orya Maqbool Jan, Suhail Warraich, Rauf Tahir and others. Prominent among the participants included Mufti Gulzar Naeemi, Abul Ijaz Qadri, Mufti Siddiq Hazarvi, Mufti Abdul Rehman Qamar, Tahir Raza Bukhari, Arif Sialvi, Dr ZAkaria, Dr Masood Mujahid, Mufti Intikhab Noori and others.
Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif were now on top of terrorists’ hit list after launching the operation Zarb-e-Azb, but they were fully committed to purging the country of terrorism. He said the PML-N leadership wanted to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state, adding that they had always struggled against dictatorship. He said the government would take the ongoing war against terrorism to its logical conclusion at all costs.
Ata Maneka, while paying tributes to the services of Mufti Muhammad Hussain Naeemi and Dr Sarfraz Naeemi, said merely remembering our glorious elders was not enough and we must make their practices and teachings an essential part of our lives to bring about an Islamic revolution.
Raghib Naeemi in his welcome address highlighted the services of Jamia Naeemia for Islam and Pakistan spanning over seven decades. Other speakers said Mufti Muhammad Hussain Naeemi and Dr Sarfraz Naeemi had strived all their lives for lasting unity among Muslims of all schools of thought.
Resolutions at the seminar condemned terrorism in the country and praised the war against terrorism, especially the operation Zarb-e-Azb by Pakistan Army.
Another resolution strongly condemned the burning alive of two innocent Muslims by a Christian mob in Youhanabad after bomb attacks on churches, terming it a worst kind of terrorism and demanded exemplary punishment.
