Govt slammed for not completing road in Chitral
PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader and former MNA Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali on Monday criticised the successive governments failing to complete the Booni-Torkhow Road in 11 years.
Through a statement issued here, the JI leader said that the work on the road had been stopped and the landowner had not been paid. He said work on the road project was launched in the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) government, which had yet to be completed.
The Maulana said the government had seized the land through Section-4 but did not pay the amount to the owners. Not only the landowners were affected due to the non-payment but 150,000 population was also facing difficulties in travelling to other parts of the district, he added.
The former MNA said the residents of the area had given a call of protest from April 15. He asked the government to resume work on the road project forthwith and ensure payment to the landowners to avoid a law and order situation.
