Senior journalist turns to PHC CJ for help in theft case
PESHAWAR: Senior journalist Mahmood Jan Babar has appealed to the chief justice of the Peshawar High Court to take note of the theft of his professional bag from his car as the police have failed to take action.
In an appeal addressed to the chief justice whose copy was sent to fellow newsmen, the journalist said some unidentified people had stolen his professional bag from his locked car which was parked outside the Peshawar Press Club on February 6. Mahmood Jan Babar, who is bureau chief of Geo News TV said he reported the theft to the Sharqi (East Cantt) Police Station in-charge the very next day and provided him all the details.
The journalist said he acquired the closed-circuit television footage from the nearby buildings on his own and handed this to the police to facilitate the investigation.
“It is strange that the police is still silent over the case. No investigation officer has been appointed for pursuing the case even 40 days after the incident. There has been no action by the police,” he lamented. He deplored that neither a police official contacted him in connection with the investigation nor any cop bothered to examine his car.
Mahmood Jan Babar requested the chief justice of the Peshawar High Court to take notice of his case as the police were not taking any action in the case.
