Another PML-N MNA joins PTI
FAISALABAD: The ongoing streak of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz lawmakers leaving the party is continuing, as another party MNA jumped ship on Friday to join the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, according to Geo News report.
The lawmaker in question this time is Dr Nisar Jatt from Faisalabad, who met with the PTI chairman on Friday.
According to the PTI press release, during the meeting, party’s former general secretary Jahangir Tareen was also present.
Dr Nisar Jatt announced joining the PTI along with his aides. The PTI chairman appreciated those joining his party and said that it would be proved in future that Jatt made the right decision, detaching himself from ‘a mafia’.
The PTI chairman said that the nation was ready for change and in the next month a countrywide election campaign would begin with a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore.
Last week, the ruling PML-N lost two lawmakers from Gujranwala to PTI.
Last year saw a series of change in political affiliations, with a number of political workers and lawmakers joining Imran Khan-led PTI.
To name a few, Pakistan People’s Party Nazar Gondal, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Babar Awan joined the PTI last year.
In May 2017, former president Asif Ali Zardari’s close aide also switched to the PTI, whereas former chief minister Sindh Liaquat Jatoi left the PML-N to join Imran’s party.
Meanwhile, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said in Multan on Friday that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was divided between those who wanted conflict between institutions and those opposing it.
“Time will tell which school of thought will win,” he said while addressing a press conference.
Commenting on the party’s plans for Saturday’s Senate elections, Qureshi said that PTI was in consultation with various parties. The PTI leader said the party expects to win six Senate seats from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and one from Punjab. “We have fielded candidates keeping in mind ground realities,” he added.
