CM says PTI wants corruption-free country

SWABI: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Tuesday that the corrupt leaders could not lead the nation and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership wanted a corruption-free country.

He was addressing a public gathering at Thandkui. KP Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, MNA Aqibullah Khan, Faisal Javed, Nisar Jadoon, Rangraiz Khan and others were also present. It was the second visit of the chief minister to the district in 20 days.

Earlier, he visited the district on February 1 to inaugurate the construction work on Bada Dam. He had also addressed a public meeting at Maini.

He came down hard on leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamait Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Awami National Party and Pakistan People’s Party for misleading the people through hollow slogans.

“With the completion of constitutional term of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government, KP would be totally different province. We will honour all the pledges made with the people during election 2013,” he claimed.

He spoke in detail about the steps already taken by the PTI government for good governance including discouraging the political interference in the government departments.

The health and education were the priority sectors, he said, adding, “And we have delivered in both of them with complete determination.”

The people, he said, had started feeling the difference. The international agencies had also lauded the KP government’s policies, he added.

The chief minister said that the principle of the merit had been upheld and the introduction of appointing talented youth through NTS had made the government’s policy transparent.

The KP government, he said, eliminated the menace of corruption and focused only on people welfare-oriented project in the province.

The chief minister also inaugurated a huge Pakistan Air Forces (PAF) project at Nabi village. The total cost of the project is Rs8 billion and the area situated at Nabi village, a region of Tehsil Chota Lahor.

He laid the foundation stone for the MM Alam Shaheed Welfare City. Elite of the area, officers of the Air Force and family members of the MM Alam Shaheed participated in the ceremony.

There would be a PAF college, PAF School, 300 bed hospital, technical education centre, handicraft centre for women, a school for special children, community centre and a huge park at the edge of Indus River would be constructed by the government.

Land has already been acquired for the project by the government and all the other initial requirements have been fulfilled.

Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Speaker Provincial Assembly Asad Qaiser and others addressed the function. They praised the provincial government reforms for the uniform educational system and elimination of corruption.

The PTI leaders said that with the completion of PAF project this far-flung area would be converted into one of the attractive regions in the district.
