Renovated premises of Child Development Centre inaugurated
Rawalpindi: To maximise the scope and its services, Child Development Centre (CDC) renovated premises inaugurated at Al-Mizan Campus of Riphah International University.
The Chancellor Hassan Muhammad Khan after inaugurating the centre said that the CDC is the only centre in the twin cities to provide a balanced, structured program of learning which will allow every child with different abilities to progress at his or her own pace while ensuring equal opportunities for all. Along with the guidance of foreign qualified professionals, the centre also includes prominent paediatricians, clinicians, physical therapists, speech pathologists and occupational therapists on its panel.
The chancellor also appreciated the efforts of CDC director and director of Riphah College of Rehabilitation Sciences (RCRS). He enlightened the progress of children with different abilities of CDC being a better and verbal being than in the past. He conveyed his pleasure and gratitude for these children as currently seeing them at an improved functional level with the blessings of Allah along with the efforts of skilled professionals and team CDC.
Earlier Prof. Dr. Asghar Khan said RCRS plays a leading role for the advancement and innovation in rehabilitation sciences since 2007 with the mission to have quality education for students and excellent care for patients. The rehabilitation scientists at RCRS contributed significantly by conducting many studies focused on musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardio pulmonary and speech language pathology issues. At CDC, parents are encouraged to take full part in their child's progress by attending formal reviews, regular parent- teacher meetings and an open invitation to contact the centre at any time to discuss any concerns regarding their child’s education or any matter concerning the care and welfare of their child.
The Executive Director of Riphah International University Engr. Assadullah Khan acknowledged the journey of CDC from a single room with 3 to 4 children with special needs to this current working level of CDC. He highlighted the efforts of Head of department speech language pathology Dr. Ayesha Kamal Butt and Director CDC Sahar Khan in developing up CDC as state of the art facility in twin cities. The ceremony included a short act demonstrated by the children of CDC on Traffic Lights and National Anthem.
Child Development Centre (CDC) was established under Riphah College of Rehabilitation Sciences (RCRS) in 2011 as an independent department for learning and development of children with different abilities.
