Hurriyat leaders, activists stage demonstrations

HELD SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) held a protest at Hyderpora against the inhuman treatment being meted out to the political detainees lodged in various jails in and outside Kashmir demanding their immediate release.
A large number of Hurriyat leaders and activists, including Hakim Abdul Rashid, Muhammad Yusuf Naqash, Bilal Sidiqee, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Syed Muhammad Shafi, Bashir Ahmad Irfani, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Qureshi, Muhammad Shafi Lone, Muhammad Yasin Ataie, Khawaja Firdous, Zamrooda Habib, Yasmeen Raja, Mudasir Nadvi, Syed Imtiyaz Hyder participated in the protest.
Speaking on the occasion, the Hurriyat leaders urged the human rights organisations to take cognizance of the plight of pro-freedom detainees and use their good offices for their immediate release.
They said, “The prisoners are facing immense hardships and no proper medical treatment is provided to them.”
Referring to falling health of Shabir Ahmad Shah, Peer Saifullah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Ayaz Akbar, Shahidul Islam, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Farooq Ahmad Dar, they said, “Saifullah has been diagnosed with brain tumour and his condition is deteriorating with every passing day.”
