PESHAWAR: Tehreek Nifaz Fiqah-e-Jafaria (TNFJ), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, on Monday asked the government to take action against the banned outfits working under new names.
Speaking at a press conference, provincial convener for Muharram Committee Azadari Cell, Allama Malik Ijlal Haiderul Haideri and others claimed that 71 banned organisations were active using new names in the country.
They said presence of people affiliated with such organisations in Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Council of Islamic Ideology and Ulema Board and their frequent meetings with government officials was a matter of grave concern.
The TNFJ representatives expressed reservations over what they believed were restrictions on taking out mourning processions and holding majalis without taking prior permission from the local administration and sought reversal of the decision.
They called for compliance with the 1985 agreement for holding and facilitating mourning processions and insisted that it must be abided by all concerned.
The TNFJ representatives demanded foolproof security for mourning processions and installation of closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) and walkthrough gates on the mourning processions routes for ensuring better security.
They demanded the deployment of paramilitary forces in Peshawar and other sensitive areas and coordination between the law-enforcement agencies and volunteers force for better security management during Muharram.
