Mushahidullah representing Pakistan in Kyrgiz leopard moot

Islamabad :Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan left for Kyrgyzstan to represent Pakistan in Snow Leopard Conservation Summit and Green Investment Forum, He will address high level segment of summit to highlight initiatives taken in Pakistan to conserve snow Leopard.

The summit includes an invitation for 12 countries where Snow Leopard are an important entity including China, Russia, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal and Tajikistan.

Pakistan’s snow leopard population represents the world’s third largest by size, tied with India, highlighting the country’s importance for conserving the species worldwide. Within Pakistan, the Gilgit Baltistan province contains the largest proportion 60% of the country’s snow leopard population that is largely concentrated in the province’s two largest and adjoining national parks, Khunjerab National Park (KNP) and Central Karakoram National Park (CKNP).  The event has galvanized the international snow leopard community, and has become a starting point for an unprecedented joint effort to save this unique animal.
