Medical college admission test rejected
LAHORE:Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has condemned alleged financial corruption and administrative chaos in the name of Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in Punjab and termed it unacceptable.
“The test is nothing but a glaring example of inanity towards the students. This test is unwanted and under wanted,” expressed the PMA office-bearers in a meeting at PMA House on Tuesday. PMA, Lahore, President Prof Dr Ajmal Hasan Naqvi chaired the meeting, while Prof Dr Ashraf Nizami, Dr Izhar Ahmad Ch, Dr Tanveer Anwar, Dr Azim ud Din Zahid, Dr Shahid Malik, Dr Wajid Ali, Dr Kamran Saeed, Dr Asma Yasin, Dr Iram Shehzadi and Dr Aleem Nawaz attended the meeting.
They alleged that the big players of the academic terrorism in the name of MDCAT are health department, UHS, PMDC and admission training academies. PMA demanded that MCAT paper be cancelled.

According to a press release issued here, according to the chief election commissioner of the election, Prof Mahmood Ayyaz, Prof Zahid Naiz had been elected as president of the Society unopposed, Dr Haroon Javaid Majid as vice-president, Dr Qamar Ashfaq Ahmad as general secretary, Dr Muhammad Sahid Farooq as finance secretary, Dr Muhammad Saad Faisal as publication secretary and Dr Wasif Majeed Chaudhry as joint secretary.
Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Prof Ayesha Shaukat, Prof Muhammad Saleem, Prof Abrar Ashraf Ali, Prof Waris Farooqa, Prof Afsar Ali Bhatti, Prof Khalid Javeed Khan, Dr Muhammad Imran Anwar, Dr Hammad Naeem Rana, Dr Hurriat Afzal, Dr Ahsan Nazir Ahmed, Dr Muhammad Sharif and Dr Yar Muhammad were elected as members of the executive council.
Prof Kamran Khalid Khawaja, ex-president of Society of Surgeons Pakistan and Dr Ahmed Uzair Qureshi, general secretary, will continue to work as members of the executive committee for the period of two years.
COLLABORATION: School of Health Sciences at University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore, on Tuesday inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Surraya Azim (Waqf) Hospital for future collaboration, training and practical exposure of medical students and faculty involvement in knowledge transformation.
UMT Director General Abid HK Shirwani and Iftikhar Chaudhry, member of the Surraya Azim Hospital Governing Body signed the agreement.
Speaking on the occasion, UMT Director General Abid HK Shirwani said that partnering with Surraya Azim Hospital would result in great learning opportunity for the students of School of Health Sciences. He said UMT students would get practical exposure and a sense of professionalism by doing internship and house-job at the hospital.
MoU: Punjab University (PU) and Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote need-based standardisation and quality control education programmes and transfer of technology to the industry for industrial and socio-economic development.
According to the MoU, both parties would jointly initiate market-oriented research and development projects and other activities in the area of common interest, sharing their human and material resources. They would jointly organise training workshops, seminars and workshops.
PU Vice-Chancellor Dr Zaffar Mueen Nasir, PSQCA Director General Muhammad Khalid Siddiq, PU Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid and other officials attended the MoU signing ceremony.
