Shehla Raza XI win Women’s Hockey League

KARACHI: Fauzia’s hat-trick helped Shehla Raza XI defeat Nusrat Hanif XI by 5-2 to win the final of KHA 5-a-side Women’s Hockey League at KHA Sports Complex on Sunday.
Inshirah and Momal struck one goal apiece. For the losing side, Maheen Sokaina was the scorer. Fauzia was declared woman of the match. Tahmina was the top-scorer of the league with 13 goals. She was declared the best player. Shazma was adjudged the best goalkeeper.
KHA president Dr Junaid Ali Shah gave a cash prize of Rs20,000 to the winning team, while Nusrat Hanif gave the runners-up a cash prize of Rs15,000. Junaid emphasised the need for involving women in sports, especially hockey, and said KHA was committed to promoting women’s hockey.
