Five killed in road accidents

LAHORE: Five people were killed in different road accidents in the provincial metropolis on Sunday. A woman was killed and two other people were injured when a speeding truck hit a bike in the Manga Mandi area. The victims, yet to be identified, were on their way on a bike when a rashly-driven truck hit them, as a result of which, a woman died and two other people sustained injuries. The injured were admitted to a local hospital. In another incident, a bike rider was killed by a speeding car at Gajju Matta in the Kahna area. The victim was identified as Raees of Lohari Gate. Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man lost his life as his speeding bike collided with a drum in the Gawalmandi area. The victim was identified as Suleman.

Two people were killed by a rashly-driven tractor-trolley in the Raiwind area. Police have removed the bodies to morgue. Body found: A man was found dead in the Kot Lakhpat police jurisdiction on Sunday. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict. Police said he might have died of an overdose of drugs. The body has been removed to morgue.

692 road accidents: Total 692 road accidents were reported to Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service/Rescue 1122 from districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Eight lives were lost and 609 people were badly injured in the road accidents. The injured were removed to hospitals. However, some 205 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by the emergency medical teams.

Two robbers arrested: Old Anarkali police claimed to have arrested two robbers and recovered loot from their possession. Arms were also seized from the accused robbers, identified as Amjad and Mushtaq.
