Siraj asks ECP not to allow corrupt to contest polls
TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq on Tuesday asked the Election Commission of Pakistan to stop all those involved in any kind of corruption from taking part in elections.
He made the demand while addressing an ‘Eid Millan Party’ at Jamia Taleemul Quran at his native village in Samarbagh. Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Aizazul Mulk Afkari, district Lower Dir Nazim Muhammad Rasool Khan, JI provincial vice- chief Dr Iqbal Khalil, JI district spokesman Yaqoobur Rahman, tehsil nazims Saeed Ahmad Bacha, Humayun Khan and a large number of party workers were present on the occasion.
The JI chief said those who took small loans were sent behind bars for non-payment whereas those who defaulted on loans worth billions of rupees were at large. “Holding accountable those who made offshore companies and the ones who got loans waved off was the need of the hour,” Sirajul Haq observed.
The JI chief said this party would eliminate unemployment from the country if it came into power. He demanded inclusion of Malakand-Shandur alternative railway track in China- Pakistan Economic Corridors (CPEC) project as its mapping had been done 20 years ago.
This project, he said, would open up new employment opportunities for the people. He also demanded implementation of recommendations of the Senate committee in this connection.
