Water supply improves in capital
Islamabad
The supply of 10 mdg additional water from the Simli Dam has been started due to which the situation of water shortage in the capital city witnessed a little bit improvement in last couple of days.
The repair work on the electric motor of the Khanpur Dam would also be carried out after which the supply of water from the dam would reach its normal level after Eidul Fitr.
The chairmen of the union councils Qazi Tanvir, Raja Faisal and Malik Sajid said the MCI first announced to repair the electric motor of Khanpur Dam on June 12 then it gave the date of June 25 for this purpose but it seems that the issue would take some more time for inconvenience of the people.
"The MCI should resolve the issue of water shortage on permanent basis because the residents face this problem every year and the concerned authorities try to pacify them through temporary arrangements," they said.
Opposition Leader in Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) Ali Nawaz Awan said the supply of additional water from the Simly Dam is a temporary arrangement because the shortage of water is likely to increase in the coming weeks.
"The MCI should take effective measures to resolve the issue of water shortage on permanent basis otherwise short-term measures would not help resolve this lingering issue," he said.
