Illegal construction in Orangi Town has affected the lives of residents. Many builders are involved in carrying out construction without even getting the mandatory approval from the SBCA. This is causing a loss of millions of rupees to the Sindh government and the SBCA. Marriage halls, commercial shops, banks and food shops are being openly constructed – without submitting the construction plan for official approval.
The SBCA is responsible for ensuring that the buildings are built according to approved plans but it is lamentable that a majority of builders have found an illegal way to carry out their business. Since many such buildings are still under construction, it is the right time to demolish these under-construction buildings. The concerned people must look into the matter and take legal action against the people who are involved in this activity.
