MINGORA: The residents of various localities Thursday staged a sit-in against the unannounced and 20-hours long gas and power loadshedding in the city.
The residents of Usmanabad, Tahirabad, Banr, Nawan Killay, Rang Mohallah, Malukabad and other surrounding localities took to the streets and staged sit-ins in Nishat and Nawan Killay Chowk and blocked all the three roads in Mingora city for traffic. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the gas and power load management and their elected representatives.
The charged protesters also torched a portrait of Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Fazal Hakeem Khan. The speakers said that the unannounced and hours-long gas and power loadshedding had made the life of the residents miserable.
Later the Additional Deputy Commissioner Hamid Khan held talks with the protesters and assured them to take up their reservation to the authorities concerned. The protesters ended the sit-in and dispersed peacefully.
