KARACHI: No Pakistani player is seeded in the World Junior Squash Individual Championships whose draw was revealed on Friday.
According to the draw, Zeeshan Zeb will play against Lwamba Chileshe of New Zealand in the first round. Abdul Malik Imran got bye in the first round and will face Yash Fadte of India in the second round.
Mansoor Zaman Junior also got bye in the first round and will face Tobias Weggen of Germany in the second round.
After getting bye in the first round, Abbas Zeb is to face Veer Chotrani of India in the second round.
The championship is to be played in New Zealand at Devoy Squash & Fitness Centre in Tauranga from July 19-24.
Youssef Ibrahim and Hania El Hammamy are top seeds in men’s and women’s events, respectively. Both reached the semi-finals of the 2016 championships in Poland.
Pakistan are the weakest in this event as none of the four players have rankings in under-19 category even at Asian level. Abbas Zeb is ranked fifth by ASF in the under-17 category.
