PESHAWAR: The lawyers community in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday observed complete boycott of courts to protest the diatribe of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nehal Hashmi against the judiciary.

Senator Nehal Hashmi in a speech had warned that those conducting the investigation against the Sharif family would be taken to task.

Nehal Hashmi had resigned from the Senate hours after a video of his speech went viral. On the call of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, the lawyers observed complete boycott of courts across the province to protest the statement of Nehal Hashmi.

In the provincial metropolis, the lawyers observed complete boycott of courts.President of Peshawar High Court Bar Association Arbab Muhammad Usman told The News that they observed the strike on the call of KP Bar Council.

He said that the statement and warning of the PML-N senator was unacceptable and they strongly condemned it.“Such statement is a conspiracy to weaken the judicial institution, which is highly condemnable,” said Rahmanullah Khan, secretary general PHCBA.

He said that the lawyers through the province-wide strike proved that they were part of the judicial system and they would not accept such warnings or statements against the judiciary.On the other hand, the litigants had to suffer again due to the lawyers strike as their cases related to bails and other matters were adjourned for months.

MANSEHRA: The lawyers fraternity stayed away from courts to protest PML-N leader’s remarks against the joint investigation team constituted to probe the Panama Leaks. Fahad Habib, the general secretary of District Bar Association, told reporters that lawyers fraternity observed the boycott of courts on the call of provincial bar association.He said that Nehal Hashmi should be taken to justice under relevant laws.
