Jam Bijar Khan, chieftain of the Jokhio tribe and a former member of the Sindh Assembly, passed away at the age of 85 in his native village, Jam Goth, in Malir early on Tuesday.
A number of tribal chiefs and politicians from across Sindh and Balochistan attended his funeral at Jam Goth. The ex-MPA was then buried at the historic Chawkandi graveyard.
Those in attendance included veteran Baloch nationalist leader Sardar Ataullah Mengal and his son, former chief minister of Balochistan Sardar Akhtar Mengal; Sindh assembly members Sajid Jokhio, Haji Shafi Jamot and Sadiq Memon; members of Thatta’s Shirazi family including MNA Syed Ayaz Ali Shah Shirazi and Syed Shafqat Ali Shah Shirazi; District Malir chairman Jan Muhamamd Baloch; District Council Karachi chairman Salman Abdullah Murad; former Bin Qasim Town nazim Khuda Dino Shah; historian Gul Hasan Kalmati; journalist Sami Memon; and Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz leader Ilahi Baksh Bikak. His soyem would be held at Jam Goth on Thursday (tomorrow).
