PU centre to counter anti-CPEC propaganda

Federal Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Punjab University will establish China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Integrated Study Centre at Punjab University to highlight the golden opportunity for development of Pakistan through the media and counter negative propaganda against the project. 

In a meeting, HEC consultant and National University of Science and Technology former Vice-Chancellor Lt-Gen (r) Muhammad Asghar gave a presentation on the CPEC and One Belt One Road (OBOR) and said there was a need to create awareness among people about the fruits of the gigantic project. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zaffar Mueen Nasir, Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) in charge Savera Shami, HEC Director General CPEC Dr Safdar Ali Shah and other officials and faculty members were present on the occasion. 

Muhammad Asghar said every section of society and the country was going to benefit from the CPEC and it would bring Pakistan among the developed nations. He said, "We need to create awareness among people, build positive narrative of the project and counter negative propaganda." 

Dr Zaffar Mueen Nasir assured that PU would play its role with full strength in implementing the federal government’s vision regarding CPEC. He instructed the PU team to prepare a concrete proposal within one week so that practical work could be started as soon as possible.
