Sunny yet windy day in capital
Islamabad: Though mostly sunny, Monday was breezy in Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to a trace of precipitation.
The rain, which first fell on Sunday and then early on Monday, gave the local residents a respite from the growing daytime heat. The Met Office said on Monday evening that two millimeters rain was recorded in Rawalpindi and one in Islamabad during the last 24 hours.
It said the rain brought down the maximum temperature to 37 degrees Celsius on Saturday to 30 degrees Celsius on Sunday but took it to 35 degrees Celsius on Monday.
As for the humidity level, it was recorded at 50 per cent on Monday. The Met Office said mainly hot and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country during the next 24 hours but rain with thunderstorms was expected at few places in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Malakand, Hazara, Gujranwala and Sargodha divisions, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Though it was a working day, the pleasant weather cheered up Islooites and Pindiites with many going sightseeing and visiting parks and picnic spots like Pir Sohawa, Daman-i-Koh, Lake View Park, and Chhatar in the evening.Restaurants and cafés attracted large crowds, while sellers of ‘samosa’, ‘pakora’ and ‘jaleebi’ reported high sales, especially in the afternoon.
