MULTAN: Pakistan Seraiki Party’s chief organiser Ahmad Nawaz has said that the PPP is playing with the Seraiki people by adopting double standards.

He said this while addressing a rally against the PPP at Chowk Nawan Sheher on Friday. The workers of the Seraikistan Democratic Party, Seraikistan Qaumi Council, People’s Seraiki Party, National Workers Party Seraiki Unit and lawyers and civil society activists also participated in the protest.

Ahmad Nawaz said that the PPP had a majority in the Senate but the party rejected the Seraiki language bill, despite the party’s tall claims of creating the fifth province comprising  Seraiki areas. He condemned the PPP leadership for not giving importance to the Seraiki people. He said that the PPP leadership had decided to halt the campaign for the creation of Seraiki province as PPP president Asif Ali Zardari had withdrawn from the creation of a south Punjab province. Seraikistan Qaumi Council chairman Zahoor Dhareja criticised the PPP over the issue and said that the Seraiki belt was a home of some 52 NA constituencies. He said that the recent stance of the PPP had disappointed the Seraiki people.

He alleged that the PPP was not loyal with the people of Seraiki belt. Seraikistan Democratic Party chairman Faraz Noon also criticised the PPP leadership and said that the party had allegedly exploited the Seraiki people in the name of creating a separate province.
