Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal on Sunday invited all stakeholders including religious scholars, civil society representatives and the business community to discuss with them the party’s 16 demands put forward to the Sindh government.
According to media reports, the PSP chief made this announcement following his meeting with Mufti Naeem-ur-Rehman at the Jamia Binoria in SITE.
Accompanied by senior PSP leader Anis Qaimkhani, Kamal said that he has been for the past year struggling to win rights of the city’s residents but did not resort to even the slightest of violence.
“The demands for which we have been protesting for are not for our personal comforts or for one particular group or party. If met, these demands will benefit the common citizen of Karachi,” he said.
Kamal claimed that the mandate given to the provincial government by the people was traded for personal interests. He also criticised the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for being given a clean chit to do whatever it wanted with the city.
The PSP on April 23 wrapped up its sit-in camp from outside the local press club and announced plans to hold a million-man march on May 14 as part of the party’s second phase of the protest against the Sindh government.
