Cop shot at, injured in Factory Area

LAHORE

A police constable received bullet injuries when two robbers resorted to firing which ensued to encounter in the Factory Area police limits on Friday.

Police failed to arrest the accused robbers. The victim has been identified as Maqsood Taj. Police tried to stop the suspects at a picket on Mast Nagar Road near General Hospital. The accused persons ignored the signal and opened firing. As a result, constable Maqsood sustained bullet injuries. He was rushed to hospital where his condition was stated to be critical. Police have registered a case and started tracing the accused.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Lahore police has said the appointment of Tariq Aziz as SSP Discipline Lahore is a routine matter and he has nothing to do with Gullu Butt.He said Tariq Aziz has been posted in the office from field posting as he is an honest and hardworking police officer. He deplored negative propaganda. 

CCPO: CCPO M Amin Vains has said that Lahore police are applying all possible resource to secure the lives and assets of the citizens and all the officers and cops are playing significant role in the war against terrorism. 

Public assistance plays basic role in war against national evils. Police and public conjointly ruined the filthy intentions of the terrorists during the PSL final and would remained together in all the expeditions against terrorism, the CCPO said. 

He said that foolproof arrangements were  made on Juma tul Mubarak to ensure strict security measures and more than 6,000 cops performed duties. All the SPs visited mosques and other holy places to ensure security and the officers of Dolphin Force and Police Response Unit patrolled the main roads of the City, he added.

OPC: The Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab is pursuing a vigorous policy to resolve the issues faced by expatriate Pakistanis and as many as six senior officers have been nominated to follow up complaints forwarded to administrative departments, divisions, district overseas committees and federal government departments/ agencies.  

OPC Director General Syed Javed Iqbal Bukhari said this while chairing a weekly departmental meeting. He informed that issues of overseas Pakistanis pertaining to Anti-Corruption Establishment, private housing schemes and LDA were being pursued properly.

Wrong parking: Chief Traffic Officer Rai Ijaz Ahmed said that wrong parking not only affected the traffic flow but also became a source of distress for other citizens.

accidents: At least 617 road crashes were reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service/Rescue 1122 from all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Eleven people were killed and 487 badly injured in the accidents.  The injured were shifted to hospitals. However, some 213 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by the emergency medical teams.
