LAHORE: At least 10,000 officials of Pak Army, Rangers and Punjab police performed security duty in and around the Qaddafi Stadium during the PSL cricket match on Sunday.
At least five companies of Rangers were deployed at the Qaddafi Stadium. The policemen deployed at the stadium checked the identification papers of people. The officials of Elite, Dolphin and other law enforcement agencies continued patrolling around the stadium and conducted thorough physical checking of people besides checking their identification papers.
Police arrested a suspect at the stadium who had impersonated an official of Elite Force. Similarly, police rounded up a man for selling tickets in black near the entry point on Ferozepur Road.
Two parking lots were established, one at Liberty Market and the other at FC College. The Lahore CCPO and DIG Operations also checked the parking lot at FC College. The City Traffic Police blocked several roads even also those which were not connected with the road leading to the stadium. The traffic wardens closed the road from Naqsha Stop Wahdat Road to Muslim Town Morr and did not allow the people to move towards Samanabad and Mozang. Police blocked the Wahdat Road by parking a truck in the middle of the Naqsha Stop. Similarly, Jail Road and Shadman Chowk were blocked for security reasons. The traffic moving towards Ferdous Market was stopped before Cavalry Ground Bridge. The helicopter kept flying over the City for surveillance.
