NAWABSHAH: Fifty Afghan nationals having no valid documents for travelling in Pakistan were taken into custody by the police and booked under contravening the Foreign Act.

According to the police, the search operation against foreigners was launched following the incident of Sehwan blast, claiming a large number of human lives and injuring hundreds. In this regard, the police officials said that the search operation was carried out in Nawabshah, Sakrand, Qazi Ahmed, Daulatpur and Taluka Daur and around 50 Afghanis were taken into custody in this operation.

It was learnt that some of the Afghanis were carrying fake National Identity Cards (NICs), while a few of them had letters from the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) showing cancellation of cards.

Police said that these Afghanis did not submit their cancelled cards to Nadra and not return to Afghanistan. Police said that it was launching a two-phase action against illegal foreign nationals during which action would start against those having no identity cards or incomplete residence documents, while investigation would also be carried out against those suspicious persons carrying NICs.
