KARACHI: The duo of Abdul Kadir Bhurgari and Mohammad Zubair emerged triumphant in the maiden weekend pairs tournament organised by the newly-elected management of the Karachi Bridge Associates (KBA) here at the Aslam Hall, housed in the National Stadium.

made available to ‘The News’ by the KBA, a total of 15 pairs
took part in the competition
on Friday evening and it turned out to be a closely fought
contest.
In the end it was the pair of Abdul Kadir Bhurgari and Mohammad Zubair, who ran away with the top honours having scored 62.50 percent.
Since the beginning, tough fight was witnessed between Gulzar Bilal-Furrukh Liaquat, Anwer Kizilbah-Wajahat Suri, Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi-Nasim Arzoo and Sarfaraz Ahmed-Asghar Abbas.
Abdul Kadir Bhurgari and Mohammad Zubair tiptoed towards the victory stand suffering setbacks in the middle sessions.
Anwer Kizilbash-Wajahat Suri finished as the runners-up with a score of 59.82% while Ghufran Ashraf-Shahab Khan came third, having scored 56.85%. S M Ilyas-Mohammad Ilyas (54.76%) and Sarfaraz Ahmed-Asghar Abbas (52.91%) ended at fourth and fifth positions respectively.
The KBA will be organising its weekly team event on Sunday (today) in which a big turnout is expected in view of the recent initiatives to boost the mind sport.
