Three contenders in run for KBA president post

Polling for the 70th Karachi Bar Association elections would be held on December 17 from 9am to 5pm and the Chief Election Commissioner District and Sessions Judge (South) Imdad Hussain Khoso has issued a final list of the candidates contesting this year’s elections. 

As per details, three senior lawyers – Advocate Mehmoodul Hasan (who is the outgoing president), Shaikh Javed Mir and Ehteshamullah Khan – will be contesting for the post of KBA president. 

The contenders for the vice-president slot are M Farooq, Shaif Ghori, Muneer Ahmed Malik and Sakeena Khatoon; for secretary, the contenders are Khan Nawaz Marwat and Syed Farhat Hussain; for joint secretary, three candidates Muhammad Adil Khanzai, Amir Nawaz Warraich and SM Jahangir are in the run.

For the post of treasurer, there are five candidates namely Uroon Parsad, Ayazuddin Qureshi, Gul Qadam, Mustafa Kamal and Zakia Lakho. Similarly, there are four candidates – Syed Akhtar Hussain, Syed Mudassar Hussain Zaidi, Syed Shahid Hussain and Ubaidullah Kalhorro – in the run for the post of librarian. 

As many as 32 advocates have filed their papers for the total of 11 spots on the managing committee. In total, there are 6,000 advocates registered with the KBA.
