Utility Stores Corporation (USC) of Pakistan had always ensured transparency and accountability in purchasing quality products from the different sources to facilitate the masses.
Talking to APP here on Wednesday Spokesman of USC said that more than 3,400 different quality items including wheat, flour, rice, ghee, cooking oil, pulses and beverages would be available on cheaper rates as compared to the open market.
He said that this year the corporation was negotiating with the vendors for further slashing down the prices besides procuring the quality products from the market to pass on the relief to the people.
Besides the existing 6,000 stores arrangements are being finalised to open mobile stores in rural and far-flung areas to provide relief for the poor living in these areas. The spokesman said that the USC has also established mega stores in big cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Multan and Muzaffarabad.
The zonal managers were also asked to obtain viable location in other cities to establish mega stores to enhance the reach of the corporation to facilitate the people, he added. Replying to a question, he said that last year the sale target of the USC was Rs70 billion but this year the target has been set at Rs90 billion keeping in view the confidence reposed by the people in the quality and low prices of items provided by the corporation.
