Islamabad: Khalid Malik has been elected as new president of English Speaking Union (ESU) during Annual General Meeting held here.

Majority of the members of ESU attended the meeting. Apparently there were three candidates namely Wazir Ahmed Jogezai (former Federal Education Minister and deputy speaker of the National Assembly), Anwar Saifullah (former Federal Minister for Petroleum) and Khalid Malik, a prominent businessman.

Finally Khalid Malik's name was proposed by Jogezai as President which was seconded by Ms Talat Azeem, former federal secretary Khawaja Sarwar and Saleem Mahmood.

All other members hailed the decision. General Masood Akram, the outgoing President of ESU, was the first one to congratulate Khalid Malik followed by Masood Zaman, Muzzafar Mahmood Qureshi. Mrs. & Dr. Shaukat Malik and all other ESU members.

Khalid Malik in his acceptance speech thanked the union members. He spoke at length and appreciated the services of the outgoing president Masood Akram. He also thanked the Secretary General of the ESU and Ms. Talat Azeem for their hard work. He promised the members to enhance ESU activities. He also thanked Masood Zaman, former federal secretary, for accepting the responsibility of chief election commissioner for this election.  A sumptuous dinner was served in the end which was greatly appreciated by the members.
