Four women killed in Quetta bus attack
QUETTA: Gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on a moving bus in Quetta and killed four women from Shia community in an apparent sectarian attack, officials said Tuesday.“At least two motorcycle riders on one bike fired at the bus when it reached close to Hazara town. Two people, one male and another female, were also wounded in the attack,” Abdul Razzaq Cheema, a senior police official told AFP.“The bus was travelling from one locality of Hazaras to the other,” Cheema said.Qambar Dashti, Quetta city commissioner, confirmed the attack and said it could be sectarian.“This attack on Hazaras’ bus could be sectarian but we are still investigating it,” he said.There was no immediate claim of responsibility but Taliban militants have attacked Shia Hazaras in the past.
APP adds: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned the attack on Hazara community in Quetta. Sympathising deeply with the bereaved families, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.
The prime minister has directed the concerned authorities at the federal and provincial level to hunt down the perpetrators of this heinous act and bring them to task immediately, a statement issued from the PM’s Office here said.The prime minister also directed for the best treatment to those injured during the attack and prayed for their early recovery.
