Cleanliness campaign on routes of Muharram processions inspected

The Rawalpindi Solid Waste Management Company (RWMC) Chairman and PML-N (MPA) Raja Muhammad Hanif along with Managing Director Irfan Ahmed Qureshi Monday inspected the cleanliness campaign on the routes of Muharram processions.

All procession routes will be cleaned with ‘Arq-e-Gulab’ spray from 1st Muharram to 10th of Muharram. The cleanliness campaign with ‘Arq-e-Gulab’ spray has been started here at Union Council of 36, 26, 27, 30, 31, 43, 40, 41, 46, 19 and union council 20.

The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company Managing Director Irfan Ahmed Qureshi has said that cleanliness campaign was in progress with sanitary staff deployed around the city. The construction material and debris would be removed from the routes, he added. He said that there would be three ‘Emergency Relief Camps’ here at Committee Chowk, Fawara Chowk and Shah Nazar Pull. At each shift 5 sanitary workers will be deployed to clean procession routes from 1st Muharram to 10th Muharram, he claimed.

He said that cleanliness campaign has been started in all small and big nullahas. The managing director warned that strict action would be taken against those found negligent in discharging their duties.

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Azmat Mehmood also directed all government departments including tehsil municipal administrations, Water and Sanitation Agency, health department, Rescue-1122, and civil defence to ensure all possible arrangements for maintaining security, peace, cleanliness, availability of lights, drinking water, scanners, cameras, and installation of walkthrough gates on the routes of Muharram processions and places of ‘majalis’.
