Barrister Fahad Malik’s killer arrested in Pindi
Islamabad: The police have arrested Nauman Yaqoob Khokar (Nomi Khokhar) here on Saturday, involved in the murder of Barrister Fahad Malik (nephew of former caretaker Prime Minister and ex Chairman Senate Mian Muhammad Soomro) after rejection of his bail petition from the court of Additional Sessions Judge, Pervaiz-ul-Qadir Memon.
It is worth mentioning here that Barrister Fahad Malik, a British-Pakistani citizen was killed in the federal capital when the accused Nauman Khokhar along with his aides sprinkled bullets on his car near Shalimar Police Station where he had gone in his professional capacity to mediate a case between two parties involving groups, Tariq Malik and duo Raja Arshad and Nauman Khokhar.
Hearing on the murder case of Barrister Fahad Malik held here on Saturday in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Pervaiz-ul-Qadir and Islamabad police also produce accused, Nauman Khokhar, in the court. The counsel of the accused, Nauman Khokhar, giving his arguments in the court said that justice and impartial trial is fundamental right of every individual adding that anti-terrorism court is close today; therefore the court should allow his client two days relaxation to consult with the anti-terrorism court.
The court while rejecting bail petition of accused, Nauman Khokhar, ordered police to arrest him from the court room.
Later on, after rejection of bail petition of the accused from the court, situation in the courtroom got very mysterious as counsel of Nauman Khokhar despite rejection of bail plea forcefully kept his client in the courtroom with motive to create a scuffle and complicate his arrest by aimlessly prolonging his stay in the courtroom.
However, additional district and sessions judge did not budge before the bar pressure and ordered the lawyer strictly to ensure implementation on his orders leading to the arrest of Nauman Khokhar.
Reacting on the decision, the counsel of the accused party who is Secretary of the Islamabad Bar Association, announced strike against the additional sessions judge for August 29.
On this occasion, a large contingent of police as well as Rangers were deployed in and around the district court’s area to avoid any untoward incident. The police officials remained vigilant to pursue court orders which led to the arrest of accused, Nauman Khokhar.
The main accused of Barrister Fahad Malik’s murder Raja Arshad is still at large and police making raids to ensure his arrest till filing of the report.
