Govt taking steps for return of all TDPs to their homes
ISLAMABAD: The federal government is taking various steps for the return of all Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) of North Waziristan and South Waziristan agencies by the end of this year.
Talking to APP, Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Lt-Gen Abdul Qadir Baloch (retd) here on Monday said that the federal government was providing the amount to all the affected persons for house construction and other essential items.
To a question, he said Rs100 billion had been allocated for TDPs and out of this Rs30 billion were spent on their development projects, including electricity, water supply and rehabilitation in North Waziristan Agency.The minister said there was a massive decrease in terrorism activities in the country due to the Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
The main aim of the operation was to restore peace and then early return of TDPs to their homes. He said the government had maintained its writ in South and North Waziristan and the army had eliminated terrorism from Waziristan as all the things were under control there.
