Training on ‘Eidetic Therapy for Trauma’ concludes at Bahria University

A six-day Professional Training on ‘Eidetic Therapy for Trauma’ concluded here on Tuesday at Bahria University Islamabad Campus by Professional Psychology Department in collaboration with Eidetic Psychology Solutions, Ireland. The training was conducted to prepare therapists as Bahria University plans to set up Trauma Centre for psychological treatment of trauma-effected cases.

The Resource Person of the workshop was Dr. Akhtar Ali Syed, Principal Clinical Psychologist, Brothers of Charity Services in Waterford, Ireland. He has played an important role in introducing Eidetic Psychotherapy into number of universities in Pakistan. He has also created a new model which he calls the ‘Eidetic Model of Growth’ (EMG) for people with Intellectual Disability (ID). His model is now part of the organisational policies as the therapeutic model which benefits people with severe emotional and behavioral problems from various levels of ID and associated disorders. But his real success has been with those individuals who were non-verbal.

Speaking on the closing ceremony of the training, Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral Tanveer Faiz HI (M) said, “the training conducted on Eidetic therapy is very useful for the students of psychology. It provides an opportunity to comprehend and understand the theoretical principles along with therapeutic techniques. Bahria University plans that such workshops will be conducted in future also for professional grooming of the psychology practitioners and students”. The ceremony was also attended by renowned Psychology professionals and professors including Prof. Dr Jahanzeb Khan President Pakistan Psychological Association (PPA), Surg. Rear Admiral Najam us Saqib Tb.T DGMS (N), Dr. Jamil Asghar, Imran Nazir, Prof. Dr Zainab Zadyen, Farnood Alam and Dr. Naima.

Participants of the training said that the workshop conducted on Eidetic Therapy was very useful as it provided an opportunity to comprehend and understand the theoretical principals along with therapeutic techniques. It is opined that such workshops will be continued for professional grooming of the psychology students. Lastly, Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral Tanveer Faiz HI (M) gave vote of thanks to distinguished guests for their interest and keenness in workshop and distributed certificates among the participants and resource person of training.
