Girls outsmart boys in SSC Part II examination

The girls keeping their past traditions outsmarted boys by attaining top three positions in the Secondary School Certificate Part II Annual Examination held under the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) in March-April, 2016. The overall pass percentage of both regular and private candidates as well as ex-students remained 79.49 per cent.

According to result announced by M Aleem Qureshi, Controller of Examination, at a ceremony also graced by Minister of State for Education Balighur Rehman, girls attained all top three positions in the board examination thus outclassing boys totally in Science and Humanities groups. None of the boys candidates came near to achieve top positions.

The overall top position in the SSC-II examination was grabbed by Manal Aamir of Science Group (Roll No.175060) of Army Public School & College for Girls, 56-A, The Mall, Peshawar Cantonment. She secured 1032 marks.

The overall second position in the board annual examination was shared by Urooj Fatima (Roll No 174259) of Army Public School and College, Hyderabad Cantonment and Aiman Gul (Roll No 171421) of HITEC School and College for Girls, Taxila Cantonment by getting 1031 total marks. Both these girls belonged to Science Group.

Similarly the third position was shared by three girls including Areesha Ehsan (Roll No 168311) of Army Public School for Girls, 52-Tufail Road, Lahore, Hifza Saeed (Roll No 160162) of Army Public School and College for Girls, Near Chaman Zar-e-Askari Road, Multan Cantonment and Areej Musharraf (Roll No 160205) also from Army Public School and College for Girls, Near Chaman Zar-e-Askari Road, Multan Cantonment. All these three girls got 1030 marks and belonged to Science Group.

Like in Science Group, the girls outwitted boys even in Humanities Group as well by attaining all three top positions. The first position in this group was secured by Areej Sajjad (Roll No 196241) belonging to the institution of Fauji Foundation College for Girls, New Lalazar, Rawalpindi Cantonment, getting 985 marks. She was followed by Barira Sajjad (Roll No 196240) also from Fauji Foundation College for Girls, New Lalazar, Rawalpindi Cantonment who got 982 marks.

The third position holder in this group also belonged to the same institution, Rabia Imran (Roll No 196239) who secured 977 marks.

In all 63,711 regular students appeared out of which 58,081 remained successful thus showing pass percentage of 91.16 per cent. The total number of private ex students who appeared remained 19,183 out of which 7,809 cleared the exams and the pass percentage remained 40.71 per cent.

According to the Controller Examination the supplementary examination 2016 would commence from Tuesday the 27th September, 2016.
