Court cancels Gandapur’s arrest warrants

Court accepts request and suspended non-bailable arrest warrants and adjourned hearing till July 2

ISLAMABAD. The arrest warrant of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was cancelled after he surrendered in the illegal arms and liquor and audio leak cases under trial in the District and Sessions Courts.

During the hearing of the illegal arms and liquor recovery case registered at Bhara Kahu Police Station on Thursday, Ali Amin Gandapur appeared before the court of Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti along with his lawyer Raja Zahoorul Hassan.

The lawyer informed the court that the Peshawar High Court has granted bail to Ali Amin Gandapur till July 3. He requested that the non-bailable arrest warrant of Ali Amin Gandapur be suspended. The court accepted the request and suspended the non-bailable arrest warrants and adjourned the hearing till July 2.

Later, during the hearing of the audio leak case Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur appeared in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasr Minallah Baloch along with his lawyer. The laywer sought cancellation of arrest warrants and informed that his client was granted bail by the Peshawar High Court. During the hearing, the chief minister approached the rostrum and sought permission to speak. He said the audio leak case was registered against him for asking about ‘license for weapons’. He asked if it was a crime to ask for licenses. The judge said, “this is an issue to be decided during the hearing of the merits of the case. “But you have been avoiding the hearings.” To this Gandapur responded, “Sir I have appeared before the court many times.” He went on to say that he has to appear before other hearings as well. While suspending Ali Amin Gandapur’s arrest warrant the judge reminded him that his presence was important for the indictment. Later the court adjourned the hearing of the case until July 19.
