Rs2.71bn UHS annual budget approved
LAHORE:The Board of Governors of the UHS Lahore approved a Rs2.71 billion budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 during its 59th meeting held here Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by Justice (Retd) Sheikh Ahmed Farooq and attended by Capt (Retd) Zahid Saeed, Naeem Akhtar Sheikh, Vice Chancellor Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Nadia Naseem, Registrar Kiran Fatima, Treasurer Mujahid Iqbal, and Additional Secretaries from the Punjab Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Department and the Finance Department. Treasurer Mujahid Iqbal presented the annual budget, which sets the university’s revenue target for the year at Rs4.2 billion. Key allocations include Rs77.57 million for research and scholarships, Rs358.77 million for development projects, and Rs917.3 million for staff salaries. In line with the Punjab government’s policy, a 10 percent increase in employees’ salaries was also approved. Operational expenses have been earmarked at Rs367.1 million, while Rs400 million allocated for the conduct of examinations. Intercollegiate sports and co-curricular activities will receive Rs25 million. A sum of Rs147 million was allocated for the construction of a mosque and complex at the Jinnah Campus. Additionally, Rs72 million have been set aside for installing an elevator at the City Campus and solarising both campuses. For conferences and workshops, Rs48 million were allocated.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore said that UHS had organised more than 750 workshops over the past year for the capacity building of faculty members across Punjab’s medical and health education institutions.
