Rawalpindi:Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ijaz Sufi has sentenced a madrassa teacher to a total of 42 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs600,000 for sexually abusing three children. The case was registered by Jatli Police Station on November 26, 2023, on the complaint of one victim's brother under Section 377-B of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The convict, a resident of Jhangi Syedan, was found guilty of sexually abusing three children aged 9, 12, and 14, all students at a madrassa on Chakri Road. Upon conclusion of the trial, the court sentenced him to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs200,000 for each child. In case of non-payment of the fine, he will face an additional six months of imprisonment per count. In a separate case, Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdullah Usman sentenced an individual to a total of 15 years in prison and imposed fines totaling Rs150,000 in a sexual assault case involving an elderly victim. The court also ordered the convict to pay Rs200,000 in compensation. The case was registered on April 26, 2023, by Jatli Police Station on the complaint of the victim. The convict, a resident of Nath Chhatar in Gujar Khan, was accused of forcibly entering the residence of a 69-year-old individual and sexually assaulting her.
Following the conclusion of the trial, the accused was sentenced to 10 years under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code along with a fine of Rs 150,000. Additionally, the court sentenced him to 5 years under Section 452 and imposed another fine of Rs 50,000. In case of non-payment of the compensation, the court ordered the sale of the convict’s property. The convict also received the benefit of Section 382-B of the Criminal Procedure Code, which allows for time already served in detention to be deducted from the sentence.
In a third case, a Rawalpindi sessions court sentenced one individual to death and three others to life imprisonment in a robbery-murder case. Additional sentences totaling 40 years and fines amounting to Rs 300,000 were also imposed. The court ordered all four convicts to pay a combined compensation of Rs 800,000.
The case, registered in June 2023 by Kahuta Police Station, involved the killing of a citizen during a robbery. The primary convict, Rahimullah, was sentenced to death for murder, while Bilal Afzal, Zainul Abidin, and another accomplice were handed life sentences. Additionally, under various sections of the law, the convicts were each sentenced to 7 years and fined Rs 50,000. Under Section 411, they each received 3 years in prison and a fine of Rs 25,000.
