Two killed in Malakand road mishap
BATKHELA: Two persons were killed and three others sustained injuries when a speeding trailer collided head-on with an oncoming Suzuki van on Pul Choki Road in the Malakand district on Saturday.
Police officials said the deceased have been identified as Asmat Ali, a resident of Khwazakhela, Swat, and Muhammad Rehman, a resident of Takhtbhai, Mardan. The injured include Khayesta, Abdul Samad, and Zeeshan Khan, all of whom were shifted to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment. Some of the injured are reported to be in a critical condition.
The impact also caused the trailer to hit an electricity pole, severing an 11,000 kV power line, resulting in a complete power outage across the city. Sadiq Malik, a spokesperson for the Rescue 11, informed the media that fallen power lines had blocked the main highway, which was later cleared and restored after extensive efforts.
