Gandapur doesn’t get to meet Imran
“Court has permitted me to meet (Imran Khan) in contempt of court case," says Gandapur
RAWALPINDI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was intercepted by police at the Gorakhpur checkpoint on Thursday, as he attempted to visit former prime minister Imran Khan at the Adiala jail.
Gandapur, traveling under security protocol, was halted by police, leading to a verbal confrontation between his security detail and law-enforcement officers. Police at the checkpoint instructed him to wait for the arrival of senior officers. Undeterred, Gandapur proceeded on foot towards the jail. However, police once again intercepted him, resulting in a heated exchange of words. Gandapur asserted his right to visit, citing a court order, and declaring: “This is Pakistan; I am the chief minister of a province. I have a court order. I am going to the Adiala jail, and no one can stop me.” Eventually, authorities escorted Gandapur to a nearby hotel, where discussions ensued. Speaking to the media, Gandapur stated: “The court has permitted me to meet (Imran Khan) in a contempt of court case. If I’m not allowed to meet him, I will file another contempt petition. I’ve left all my provincial duties to come here.” He criticized the restrictions on meetings, stating: “There is no law left in the country. I am given the least number of meetings. The (PTI) founder had sent me a message to meet.”
He challenged the Punjab chief minister, stating: “I want to tell the Punjab chief minister, now try going to your house in Nathia Gali. If I wasn’t allowed to meet, the Punjab CM will also not be allowed to go to her house in KP.”
