HR violations increased after regime change, says Saif

PESHAWAR: Advisor to Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Barrister Dr Muhammad Ali Saif has said that human rights violations have become a daily occurrence in the country since the regime change.

In a statement issued here, he said that prior to the regime change, Pakistan was on a path of development under the leadership of Imran Khan. “Electricity prices, which were Rs15 per unit, have now soared to Rs40–50 per unit,” he said. “Petrol, which used to cost Rs150 per liter, has reached nearly Rs260 per liter. Basic food items are now out of the reach of the common man.”

He criticised the current administration for boasting about a minor Rs7 reduction in electricity rates after previously raising them significantly. “Those who used to criticize petrol prices at Rs150 per liter are now selling it at Rs260, despite global crude oil prices being lower than during Imran Khan’s government,” he remarked. “According to international market rates, petrol in Pakistan should cost less than Rs100 per liter.”

He said terrorism that had been eradicated during Imran Khan’s tenure. “Pakistan is facing international isolation, and the people are suffering under unprecedented inflation,” he added. Dr Saif labeled the current administration a “fake government” and accused it of being responsible for the country’s current economic and social downfall. He demanded accountability and questioned the true motive behind the regime change, asserting that it was the root cause of the ongoing crisis.
