JI asks govt to arrest killers of tribal elder
BARA: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Saturday asked the government to arrest the killers of Sipah tribe elder Malik Naseeb Afridi who was killed by unidentified gunmen in Bara Bazaar three days ago.
Speaking at a press conference here, JI Khyber chapter Shah Faisal Afridi said that the police had failed to arrest the killers of Malik Naseeb Afridi.
He said that the killers of Naseeb Afridi should be arrested and brought to justice.
Shah Faisal added the police and law-enforcement agencies had failed to restore peace. He said that the killing of Naseeb Afridi was an act of targeted killing.
He said an FIR would be lodged against the police and other law enforcement agencies if the police failed to arrest his killers. He said that the family of the deceased and the entire Sipah tribe had been greatly affected by the murder.
The JI leader said targeted killings had become an order of the day in Bara, which he said had caused panic among the people, who were feeling insecure.
Shah Faisal said that the Afridi tribe would be compelled to stage a protest if the killers of the slain elder were not brought to justice.
The family members of the slain tribal elder, including Khan Wali Afridi, village council chairman Ikhtiar Badshah and Malik Zahir Afridi were present on the occasion.
