A pedestrian lost his life and five people, including women and children, were injured in two traffic accidents in Karachi on Sunday.

A speedy car struck a pedestrian and overturned on Sharea Faisal within the limits of the Ferozabad police station. Police said the pedestrian, who appeared to be in his 60s, was killed in the accident.

The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and later moved to a morgue. The deceased person is yet to be identified.

Police said a boy and a girl in the car fled the scene by hiring a rickshaw. The car was impounded. Further investigations are under way.

Separately, a speeding rickshaw skidded and overturned in the Mochko area. As a result, five family members were injured.

The injured included 35-year-old Kashif, his 30-year-old wife Asma, two sons, five-year-old Abdul Rafay and three-year-old Muzammil, and eight-year-old daughter Rida.

Police said the family was en route to a relative's house when the accident occurred. The injured were taken to the Murshid Hospital in Baldia Town and reported to be out of danger.
