PESHAWAR: Advocate Akbar Khan Kohistani elected as chairman and Advocate Ahmad Farooq Khattak as vice-chairman of the executive committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council in the elections for 2025.
The general body meeting of the bar council was held under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advocate General Shah Faisal Uthmankhel, which was attended by a large number of members.
Advocate Akbar Khan Kohistani was chosen as chairman of the executive committee and Advocate Ahmad Farooq Khattak was unanimously elected as vice-chairman.
The office-bearers said that they were elected with the votes of lawyers and would represent their interests at every forum.
They pledged to ensure the welfare and protection of lawyers, uphold the supremacy of the Constitution and law in Pakistan, support an independent judiciary, promote transparency in the judicial system and judicial commission, defend human rights, and work for the preservation of democracy in the country.
On this occasion, the newly elected office-bearers also denounced the attack on vehicles of a convoy in the Bagan area of Kurram district.
They said that such incidents were an attempt to sabotage the peace agreement, which was regrettable. They called on the federal and provincial governments to expose the individuals involved in the attack and take strict action against them.
