Rally in Peshawar calls for calm in Kurram
PESHAWAR: The members of Imamia Jirga, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Friday staged a protest rally to condemn the violence in Kurram and asked the government to take steps for the restoration of peace in the troubled district.
The protest rally was organized under the auspices of the Imamia Jirga Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Peshawar.Religious scholars, community leaders, intellectuals, and representatives of various organizations participated in the protest.
Maulana Abid Hussain Shakiri, Maulana Yawar Abbas Khalili, Maulana Nazir Hussain Mutahhari, Maulana Syed Jameel Hussain, Maulana Syed Zaki Al-Hasnain Hassani, and Hassan Raza, President of the Imamia Students Organization addressed the rally.
Members of the Turi tribe also joined the protest.Addressing the rally, the speakers urged the government to take measures to end atrocities in Parachinar and restore peace. They said the road closure had created a shortage of food, medicines, fuel and other necessary items in Kurram.
The protesters urged the government and international human rights organizations to play a role in ensuring peace in Parachinar. They called upon the government to take steps to safeguard the the life and property of the people living in Kurram.
