8 hurt in truck-van collision
LAHORE : Around eight people were injured in a collision between a 22-wheeler truck and a van on Mohlanwal Multan Road on Tuesday. Four individuals with serious injuries were taken to LGH, while a man with minor injuries was transferred to RHC Manga. Three others were given first aid at the scene.
Rape suspect among three held
Police arrested three kidnappers and a rapist who were involved in two different incidents. Defence B police arrested three individuals from Mandi Bahauddin and recovered a three-year-old kidnapped boy from their possession. The accused, Ghulam Mustafa and his wife Azra Bibi, had abducted Adnan from Defence B, Lahore, and sold him to one Imran Abbas in Mandi Bahauddin for Rs50,000. The SSOIU Cantt Division arrested a man for raping a six-year-old girl in the limits of Defence C police. The accused identified Ahmed had lured the girl to his house by offering sweets and raped her.
Body fished out from canal
The Rescue divers team recovered the body of a man from the BRB Canal in Khairapur, two days after he drowned. The rescuers had been searching for the body for two days. The body, which has yet to be identified, has been handed over to the police.
Seven die inroad accidents
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,247 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, seven people died, whereas 1,329 were injured. Out of these, 550 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 779 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
11,689 kite flyers arrested
Police Tuesday claimed to have arrested 11,689 accused on charges of violating Kite Flying Prohibition Act across the province this year. Police booked 11,113 people for violating kite flying rules in different districts. More than 638,000 kites and 34,450 spinning wheels were recovered from the accused. Some 2,546 accused were arrested and cases were registered against 2,480 and 50,000 kites and 2,230 spinning wheels were recovered from the accused.
Boy dies in fire
A 17-year-old boy died in a fire that erupted at a petrol agency near Kuchi Kothi on Raiwind Road. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and recovered the boy's body from the scene. The victim was identified as Wajid Akhter.
