Hafeez’s slow recovery worries selectors
LAHORE: Slow recovery of Mohammad Hafeez from his injury is worrying the Pakistan Cricket Board and the selection committee which is about to finalise the team for the England series.
It has been learnt that the selection committee has done its homework on the probable players for the series and is now waiting for the newly-appointed head coach Mickey Arthur’s views on the team to be announced later this month.
Sources close to the selection committee said that the chairman selection committee Inzamam-ul-Haq had prepared a tentative list of players for the England series and the final squad would be announced after consultation with Mickey.
Ahmed Shahzad is not among the players for England Tests. Sami Aslam, Khurrum Manzoor and Iftikhar Ahmed are being considered for the opening slot as the slow recovery of Hafeez has become a matter of concern for the PCB. The sources said that Hafeez’s travel to England might be delayed.
