Suspect held for stabbing man to death
LAHORE : Police have arrested a suspect involved in stabbing a citizen to death.
Suspect Nadir Khan and victim Shahbaz Shahid were drug addicts. Nadir attacked Shahbaz with a sharp edged weapon and killed him. Afterwards, he fled to Hafizabad. Police after conducting a raid arrested him from Hafizabad. Police said they were investigating the matter.
Bike lifter arrested
Manga Mandi Police have arrested a suspected bike lifter. The arrested suspect was identified as Sajjad Ali. Two stolen vehicles, illegal weapon and bullets were recovered from their custody. The suspect was involved in lifting bikes from different parts of the city. Many cases have been traced to him.
Drug peddler arrested
A drug peddler smuggling liqour by hiding in vegetables was arrested by Chowki Sabzi Mandi Police. The suspect Amanat would smuggle drugs after hiding them into vegetables. A police team on a tip off busted the suspect red handed. At least 110 litres of liquor were recovered from his custody. A case was registered against him.
72,000 POs arrested this year
The Punjab Police have arrested 72,000 proclaimed offenders of categories A and B involved in serious crimes across the entire province, including Lahore, during the current year.
Additionally, more than 39,000 judicial fugitives were apprehended. During ongoing operations, 18,791 target offenders (habitual criminals) were also arrested. Furthermore, 60 international proclaimed offenders wanted for serious crimes were apprehended in foreign countries and extradited back to Pakistan.
In total, 8,701 criminals from 3,460 gangs were arrested across the province, and stolen property valued at Rs2,436 million was recovered from these criminal gangs.
1,300 kids treated under 'Humare Phool’ project
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that more than 17 crore 25 lakh rupees have been spent for the treatment of 1,300 children under 'Humare Phool Project'.
He further said that 582 children suffering from cerebral palsy were given 10,000 per month. Three crore 23 lakh rupees were spent on cochlear implant surgeries of 20 hearing-impaired children. 173 children were provided more than one crore rupees for hearing aids and treatment support. More than 20 million rupees were given to 186 children for the treatment of various serious diseases. More than 60 lakhs was given to the parents of 25 children for major surgeries including heart and kidney etc. 150 special children were provided wheelchairs for easy mobility, while 152 children affected by thalassemia were given 15 thousand per month, a total of more than three crore 17 lakh rupees. IG Punjab said that police force is a family, more measures are being taken for the best health welfare of the children of this family. Children affected by thalassemia will be treated according to the latest technology so that their recovery process can be quick and completed as soon as possible.
